A Major Public Safety Issue That Is Too Often Overlooked
In Quebec, wildlife collisions are a persistent road safety risk. Across North America, one occurs every minute, and in Canada, they account for more than $200 million in social and economic costs each year. Despite this, less than 0.01% of Quebec’s road network is currently fenced. Where appropriate fencing is installed, however, collision rates drop dramatically and can, in some cases, be reduced to zero.
